A Bit About Lara
I'm a woman who has a passion for birth, family and community issues. I find the powers of the human system a fascinating subject and feel honoured to be doing work that is so intimate, empowering and profound. I strive to bring the best of myself to every situation and I love the power of community!
I attended my first birth in 1992 and was captured by the wonders of the process. After attending more births, I obtained my birth doula training through DONA in 2001 and postpartum doula training through CAPPA in 2004. I gave birth to my own child in 2002 and this further fueled my development as a birth professional. In 2007 I certified as both a hypnotist and a HypnoBirthing® childbirth educator. In 2015 I became a certified Stillbirthday Doula which enables me to support families experiencing perinatal loss. In 2018 I trained as a Lactation Educator to further my skills in providing breastfeeding support.
In 1997 I obtained degrees in sociology & social work, and I have extensive continuing education in early childhood development, communication & relationship, sexuality, supporting survivors of sexual trauma during the childbearing year, bereavement and hypnosis for pain management & fertility.
I'm adept at meeting others where they're at, regardless of the "weather". Joining with others to bring more love, peace and wellbeing to the world through practical and heartfelt means is my greatest joy!
